Hi, I’m Mary-Ann and I’m a postgraduate student in Digital Media at the University of Lincoln and a home educating mother. One of my projects is to make a chatbot that helps kids and parents find interesting things to do.
- To start with, the bot will give you something to investigate on your chosen subject. If you don’t feel like doing that, tell the bot and it will suggest activities, articles and videos.
- It’s designed to be used by a young learner if possible but some of the activities may need a parent or other helper. It might also be fun to get a few kids together and work on projects together.
- We do have some recommended equipment but it’s not expensive.
A chatbot is a piece of software that you have a conversation with. This one is on a web page, but they can also be used in Facebook Messenger and other apps. I’ve done this one on the web because I’m hoping young people under 13 will use it and officially you’re not allowed on Facebook!
If you’re interested in making your own chatbot, I’ve used motion.ai to build this. It’s free for two bots.
